Business Spotlight - Ahimsa Footwear
Ahimsa Footwear brings to
Denver a unique selection of footwear and accessories. Owner Lisa Young
opened Ahimsa Footwear in November 2007. The
store has been well received and was a shoe-in for Westword’s
Best of
Denver “Best Vegan Shoe Store”. Their mission is to
seek out products with a minimal footprint which customers can feel
good buying and look good wearing. Ahimsa (pronounced uh-him-sah) is a Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures and urges the avoidance of harm and injury to other beings. In accordance with this belief Ahimsa Footwear guarantees all their shoes and accessories are vegan, and is the first store in Colorado to offer a complete line of cruelty-free, fashion forward shoes and accessories. Customers can shop with confidence knowing no animals were harmed in the name of fashion.
Preserving the ecosystems on which all species depend is central to the idea of ahimsa. The store offers eco-friendly shoes and accessories made of hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, and recycled materials. Ahimsa Footwear only carries products from manufacturers whose products are made in sweatshop-free workplaces. Some select brands are founded on the idea of fair labor practice.
The store offers a welcoming, easy-going, and helpful shopping experience in downtown Denver. And for online orders: fast shipping, good communication, and a forgiving return policy. Ahimsa Footwear is located at 1668 Marion St. and is open 11-7 daily, closed on Tuesdays. Additional information and online shopping are available at www.ahimsafootwear.com.
