Business Spotlight: Urban Roots
Urban
Roots sole mission is to green up the cityscape by catering to the
urban gardener –people who have limited space but unlimited desire.
“The store was designed expressly for people who live and work in urban
settings. Until now, there’s been no convenient place for downtown
dwellers to go and get advice and materials for small space gardening,”
says master gardener and owner Diane Stahl. “We are deliver stellar
customer service and horticultural expertise!”This charming, slightly understated boutique offers a refreshing and exciting alternative to the ‘big box’ retailers and run of the mill garden centers that dot the suburban landscape. Urban Roots is a neighborhood shop stocked with a carefully selected variety of annuals, perennials, vines, dwarf trees and shrubs, planters & containers, hand tools, delightful one-of-a-kind accessories and other items well suited for urban gardening. Urban Roots landscape division has designed and installed several downtown lofts balconies and postage stamp gardens.
Stahl has had a longtime love affair with both downtown and gardening. “Urban Roots was created from the synergy of my passion for gardening and my vision of enhancing the downtown environs. While designing gardens in wide-open spaces is rewarding, I love the notion of integrating nature seamlessly with the urban setting. The confines of city spaces bring gardening opportunities that can bridge indoor and outdoor areas, creating continuity between them.”
Featured in a small business Qwest commercial, Urban Roots has appeared in Colorado Homes and Lifestyles, Best of Westword, 5280, Sunset, KUVO radio, FOX 31 Morning News & numerous local neighborhood papers.

The store is located in the heart of the Golden Triangle and is a perfect location to serve the surrounding Denver urban neighborhoods. The Golden Triangle is just south of the Denver Public Library & Denver Art Museum. It is experiencing a development boom that is creating a pedestrian friendly, eclectic, mixed use destination shopping neighborhood.
