Greetings!
Summer is finally here - and with it comes backyard barbecues, farmer's
markets and lots of outdoor activities. We hope that during your busy
summer you'll take the time to slow down a bit and get to know a few of
the people doing business in your neighborhood. Our June newsletter,
brings you info about upcoming events (including one tonight!), a
farmer's market schedule and a few of the resources available to build
your business.

Three
Ways to Build Your Business
Here are just a few of the resources available to your business through
our programs and partnerships:
- Get
the most out of the local business directory at ColoradoLocalFirst.com Search for local businesses,
leave recommendations for others, and ensure that your business' listing is up
to date. You can also add the quicksearch box to your organization's
web site. This helps you build connections with other local business,
and build the value of the directory.
- One
of our newest members, The Business Catapult, connects entrepreneurs with
potential investors. Their Benchmark Survey will
help you examine whether your new business is ready to be funded by
investors, and prepare you to submit an investment summary for review
by potential investors. Even if you're not yet prepared to seek
investment, this in-depth and free survey is a great way to get another
perspective on the development of your business.
- Attend
the next MHBA marketing workshop on Wednesday, July
2. We've adjusted our format to allow for greater participation, and
the workshop is now split into two two-hour morning sessions a week
apart. Why should you attend? Because building your customer base is
vital to a healthy, sustainable business, and because you can't afford
to waste your time and money on marketing strategies that don't work.
Registration for the next workshop closes tomorrow. Space is limited,
so reserve your seat now.
Get
Fresh Local Food
There is no better time to enjoy seasonal, fresh local food than the
summer. Did you know that we have ten times as many
conversations at a farmer's market than at a grocery store?
This is the stuff that builds community. Not only do we get fresher
food while using less energy, but we directly support the women and men
who dig in the dirt to provide something so important.
We recommend finding your tasty treats and staples at one of the area's
farmer's markets:

Get
More Involved
Love local business? Want to join us in building a more robust local
economy? We have lots of ways to get connected to our members and help
us accomplish our mission to build better community through better
business. Here are just a few:
- Become
a member - as a local business or an individual. Members receive all sorts of benefits and, most importantly, get
connected to peers and resources to strengthen their business.
- Use
the Directory - If each of us wrote just three reviews of
local businesses in a week, we could be recommending 3,600 businesses
each month, helping them build their reputations and create stronger
connections between our community and our businesses.
- Tell
other people what we're doing - We can't do this alone.
Forward this newsletter to your friends and colleagues. Invite them to
attend the Inventing Business Series with you. Now is the time to
enhance the connections in our local business community.
- Sponsor
a program - We're still looking for a print sponsor for the
Uptown Local Flavor Guide™ and have numerous
opportunities to be promoted in our Colorado Local First
media campaign. Contact us today to learn more about the
opportunities available.
