Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, the merchants of the vibrant Bluebird District on Colfax Avenue will host the “Stuff for Students” school supply drive.
From Fillmore to Monroe Streets, customers will be able to stroll from shop to shop, enjoy tasty bites, and check out all the businesses have to offer.
In exchange for a donation, customers will receive a coupon/discount from the merchant(s) of their choice. There will also be a Grand Prize for one very lucky customer! Customers can enter to win the prize at each participating business but only one entry per business. Items needed for the supply drive are: backpacks, ruled filler paper (wide and college rule), hand pencil sharpeners, pocket folders, black and blue pens, scissors (all ages), #2 pencils, packs of colored pencils, pencil boxes, crayons (24 count), colored markers, highlighters, white glue, glue sticks, erasers, and rulers.
“We hope to help out the kids in our community and at the same time encourage new visitors to our area,” said Porche Lovely of Lovely Confections bakery on Colfax and Steele. “We want to get our regular customers to visit new — or new-to-them — businesses.”
The event will take place from 4:30-7:30pm on August 9, 2008 on Colfax Ave, from Fillmore to Monroe Streets.
