Buy Local Week Gift Guide - Gifts for Him

These shopping guides to help find local gifts this holiday are really fun to write. We have such a wealth of local businesses that you'll never have to step foot in a mall!

And now, a selection of local shops to find gifts for the brothers, fathers, husbands, boyfriends, male coworkers, and all the other men in your life. Clicking on the business name will take you to their listing in the Colorado Local First directory.

Plastic Chapel Simpsons Toys
Plastic Chapel
: Collectibles, vinyl & plush toys, original art. The place for vinyl lovers and collectors of limited edition pop culture fun. The store itself is very fun to navigate, and you're sure to find something for that indy art fiend or toy collector in your life. I personally like the Simpsons mini figure blind box collection, where each toy is a surprise. Each figure is $7.95, and they have an online store for convenience. Located on E. Colfax Ave & St. Paul.

Masten Fine Framing & Gifts
: Custom framing, home decor, framed art, office accents. Proprietor Reed Masten can help you find just the right gift for Dad. This newly expanded store has lots of little treasures, including fun clocks and my personal favorite, a set of leaning men bookends for $39. They also have an online store for ease, but I recommend heading to Uptown for a very pleasant shopping experience (and a yummy hot chocolate at Illegal Grounds Coffeehouse) Located on E. 17th and Pennsylvania St.

Twist & Shout
: Music, cd's, vinyl, band paraphernalia. Truly the best music store in the city, Twist & Shout is a great place to find a gift for any music lover. Check out their extensive selection of vinyl records and used cd's. I don't usually recommend gift certificates for the holidays, but this is one place that your loved one is sure to find something they'll treasure. While you're visiting Twist, hop on over to the Tattered Cover and peruse the shelves of a truly great book store. The employees know more about books than my high school English teacher, and are a lot friendlier, too. These two stores alone will provide much of what you're looking for, and I promise the experience itself is worth the trip to E. Colfax. Both stores are located in the Lowenstein Culture Plex on E. Colfax & Elizabeth.

Mike's Camera camcorder
Mike's Camera: Photography, cameras, video supplies. No shopping guide for men would be complete without at least some mention of electronics. Check out one of three locations (and online store) of Mike's Camera, where you'll find gear and supplies for the photographers (or shutterbug wannabes) on your list. They have over 200 digital cameras in stock, and have been in business more than 40 years. Come on, help your big brother out so he can stop using that lame cell phone camera. 3 Metro locations in Boulder, Park Meadows, and Colorado Blvd.

Muscle Management Therapies: Pain management, personal training and performance enhancing therapies. More than massage, this center offers personal and group trainings, fitness consultation, and therapies designed to eliminate pain and maximize fitness and performance. Owner Chad Brenzikofer has worked in strength training for many years, and his training can result in "unparalleled explosive power." Whoa. What guy doesn't want that? Give a gift that contributes to long life, health, and big biceps. Located on S. Pearl St.

Great Divide Brewing Co: You may have enjoyed some Great Divide brew at your favorite neighborhood pub, but did you know they have a tap room where you can sample their beer and take a tour of the brewery? Treat your beer-loving guy to finding his favorite Great Divide beer, and enjoy the discounts offered on beer purchases. Tours take place M-F from 3:00 - 4:00 pm and Saturday afternoons, require no reservation, and are free. The tap room happy hour is M-F 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Located on 22nd & Arapahoe downtown.

Clubs & Pubs: Treat your guy friend to a tasty brew, pool game, good food, or a Sunday football game in the company of other fans. Here are a few of our favorites:
  • Dougherty's Irish Pub has a couple of pool tables and nice cozy bar. But this isn't your typical pub food - you will be delighted by the delicious fare they serve out of their kitchen. Check out their $5 lunch specials. Located at S. Broadway and Ellsworth
  • The D Note in Old Town Arvada has a nice big stage, awesome pizza, and features live local music every week.
  • The Appaloosa Grill in downtown Denver has a beautiful bar, great staff, and tasty food. Their intimate stage has local music often. Located on the 16th St. Mall & Welton St.
