Update on Record Store Day
ON SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 2009, HUNDREDS OF INDEPENDENTLY-OWNED MUSIC STORES ACROSS THE COUNTRY WILL CELEBRATE “RECORD STORE DAY.”
On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally. www.recordstoreday.com
Twist & Shout will be opening up the celebration to include some of their favorite organizations within the local community as an effort to promote the ever-important BUY LOCAL campaign. The Lowenstein CulturePlex (2508 E. Colfax) will be hopping with activity: Tattered Cover, Denver Art Gallery, Mile High Business Alliance, Swallow Hill, Fabric Lab/The Shoppe, Denver Dumb Friends League, Breckenridge Brewery and many of the Lowenstein eateries will be joining in the festivities. Twist & Shout will have many exclusive items for sale that were made specially for Record Store Day and will also be offering 20% off used CDs, DVDs and LPs. Many giveaways and enter-to-wins for cool prizes will be highlighted during that day, and DJ's from Twist & Shout's favorite public radio stations (KUVO, Radio 1190, KGNU) will be spinning music in the store throughout the day. It will be an event that will take people away from the negative news and will show people the importance of coming together to celebrate and support local communities.
