Businesses Hope Coloradans Will Buy Local

This is a fantastic Buy Local Week flashback!

Show of Hands in Cherry Creek is not only a locally owned store; they carry mostly locally-made items, including jewelry, from artists around the state.

More Buy Local Week Videos

Though Buy Local Week is over, the holiday season is still upon us. We hope that you are still being conscious about your spending through the holidays and into the new year.

In these videos, Mickki Langston, Executive Director of Mile High Business Alliance gives us the lowdown about Buy Local Week and why it's important to the local economy and community. Big thanks go to the Flobots & the lovely folks at Fightwithtools.org for supporting our mission and for filming these two short videos.

I was recently interviewed by the guys at Tuggl.com about local businesses and the MHBA. Here's a portion of the interview where we're talking about the role of local businesses in our community. Enjoy!

A friend forwarded this video about local food, produced for Canadians. The animation is great and helps explain the difference between importing fresh food and producing it closer to home:

Coda Coffee featured in Pursue the Passion video

Check out this video featuring Tommy Thwaites, co-founder of MHBA member Coda Coffee. He describes how he translated his passion for coffee into his wholesale coffee business.

You can find Coda Coffee to drink at lots of local coffeehouses. Some of my favorites? Pajama Baking Co. on Old South Pearl St, and Blackberries at Five Points. Give it a try!

In this video, Michael H. Shuman, attorney, economist, and author of several books, discusses the economic and community benefit from local businesses.
