So many things are happening at MHBA; it's hard to keep up and ensure we're sharing them all with you! We're pleased to announce that Mile High Business Alliance is parntering with the Denver Office of Environmental Health (DEH) to provide energy efficiency education, resources and finanical assistance for small businesses in Denver. 

The Small Business Energy Program seeks to save businesses money by reducing energy consumption. Small businesses located in the City and County of Denver can receive free energy consulations to identify energy savings opportunities for their business. 

This can mean huge savings for small companies. On average, businesses save 20-30% on their energy costs through efficiency measures. 

It has been a while since we've blogged news about Mile High Biz. Not to worry; we're so busy over here preparing for Buy Local Week and the expansion of our Colorado Local First campaign.

But MHBA member The Business Catapult sent over a couple of awesome white papers written by Christine Hamilton-Pennell, Founder of Growing Local Economies. I'm so excited to uncover even more expertise in our community! Take a look at her white paper on 10 Tips for Implementing an Economic Gardening Project.

We believe that our success in business is closely connected to our relationships in the community. As local businesses, we have a serious advantage over our non-local competition: we're connected - to the needs, ideals, personality, preferences and style of our communities.

Whew! It's been a crazy week around the Mile High Business Alliance as we've been working to get our awesome Local Flavor Guides into the hands of the visitors who are just beginning to pour into the city.

We picked up 4,800 brand-new Uptown guides from the printer this afternoon, and have volunteers and staff distributing the guides in Denver hotels today and tomorrow. (special thanks to Alicia, John and Lisa for all your help!) We've also been visiting businesses in Uptown, SoBo and Old South Pearl St. to drop off guides.
